Read text as it is written ~ What We doThere are hundreds of radio stations throughout New Zealand broadcasting on the AM and FM bands. Each of these stations pitch their programme to the entertainment needs of a particular audience. The "Radio Reading Service" is different from other stations because of what we do and why we do it. We are here to turn print into sound for anyone who finds it difficult to read conventional print The Radio Reading Service operated by a team of dedicated volunteers broadcasts on AM / MW 1602 kHz, plus VHF Stereo FM on 107.3 Mhz AM 1602 kHzlocal 107.3 FMOther stations may be in the business of entertaining an audience but we are on air serving our listeners with a full, fresh information service. We read news and information as it is printed from a variety of co-operating publications :- Newspapers Magazines Journals & Periodicals Topical Brochures The "Radio Reading Service" was established and is owned by NZ RADIO FOR THE PRINT DISABLED (INC), a not for profit voluntary organisation formed in 1985.
Allen J Little QSM,JP (ZL2GB) Since May 1987 the station has broadcast readings of published news and information. The RRS aims to be inclusive, accurate and timely in its programme content. "We read the whole story not just headlines, edited highlights or brief extracts" says Allen Little the stations founder.
